SUMMARY

The study, proposes an productive methodology to manage the automatic detection of vacant parking slots from a lamppost camera view of an outdoor parking area. The precision of the method depends on the Laplacian threshold and motion tracking based on the background subtraction algorithm. The challenge faced was to assess motion in a small region of interest there is a high noise potential.
